Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center Selects VeriForm To Eliminate Inspection Paperwork

Online Checklist Management System Streamlines Pharmacist Workflow

Wolters Kluwer Health announced recently that Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center in Maine has implemented VeriForm for their audit inspections.

VeriForm is a checklist management system that helps hospitals document and report on compliance and patient safety issues throughout a facility. It provides the ability to create multiple forms and document these inspections in one flexible, easy-to-use application.

"At Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center we used to do chart audits and file them in a paperwork format; with VeriForm we eliminate the paperwork. Also, we were able to dedicate the time to implement processes to assure the completeness of the charts based on Joint Commission Standards," said Ruby D'Salva-Bouton, Medical Support Specialist in Pharmacy at Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center. "The pharmacists have more time to complete the process and focus on patient safety and medication monitoring, rather than spending the time in paperwork filling."

VeriForm also provides a robust reporting tool to complete the process. Managers can run real-time reports to easily see which forms have been completed and monitor trends in compliance by hospital area or criteria. VeriForm has fully-integrated email capabilities so completed forms can be emailed to nurse managers and others for approval, if needed.

"When I first started doing audits, everything was all together. Now, we are able to split the sections apart, so each section gets their own report. I believe this helps clarify and pinpoint where and what some specific issues are," said D'Salva-Bouton. "The greatest piece about the application is that it can be set up as hospital-wide. All departments can set up their various audits and hopefully can be integrated into one hospital audit function. I think that is the best way to keep the whole hospital in the loop!"
