Does HIMSS Level 7 Really Mean Paperless?

I recently attended a presentation that described one hospital's journey to HIMSS level 7 adoption status. Although we describe HIMSS level 7 as "paperless," I'm not sure we can ever get to a completely paperless Medical Record. There will always be some documentation that is just not conducive to structured electronic entry. The hospital in this story was highly automated and found that after implementing their EMR, the only remaining paper consisted of the documentation around patient code events and the paper anesthesia medication record that is documented during a surgical procedure.
