Custom Templating And Usability Lead To Nation's First Private Practice Designation As Joint Commission Center Of Excellence
The vision of G. Edward Newman, MD, for a comprehensive, 21 st century medical practice formed around a decidedly meteorological, geographical and even topographical approach.
“You know how meteorologists and geographers create 3D maps…a graphic study laid across a roadmap or roads and waterways, on top of that a radar weather map of changing climates, then additional layers to create pictures that show movement,” Dr. Newman explained. “I thought we could do that with our practice — take our original Greenway templates, overlay nephrology best practices, and then add quality parameters being required by payers. This is a three-level template approach that merges all of the information and triggers our entire staff to meet all of the guidelines right as we see our patients.”
In the realm or ratio of vision-to-reality, Dr. Newman’s approach not only created efficient, effective and integrated clinical, financial and administrative workflows, but also led to national recognition by his peers at the Renal Physicians Association, and by The Joint Commission, an accreditation and best practices body normally associated with large-scale hospital systems.
