Steps You Can Take To Help Your Healthcare IT Clients Prepare For ICD-10

The new tool joins a stream of resources vendors are introducing to ease October’s transition.

As the ICD-10 transition deadline draws nearer, 3M has released a new version of the 3M ICD-10 Code Translation Tool, now expanded to included Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and other HCPCS codes. The updated tool is designed to help hospital organizations and physician practices convert systems, reports, and records to the new code.

3M Health Information Systems’ announcement is part of a wave of similar announcements from other big vendors that sell ICD-10 products or services, all of which come as the clock ticks toward the Oct. 1, 2105 compliance deadline. Moving forward, hospitals can expect a rush of new software – from big suites to smartphone apps – to come to market.

Wolters Kluwer earlier introduced its ICD-10 readiness package made up of services and software through its Health Language family of products. These were “designed to mitigate financial risk, remediate clinical and IT systems, and ensure systems are performing optimally post go-live across the customer’s enterprise.”

These emerging resources are all designed to help healthcare providers and organizations get up to speed before the Oct. deadline. The convoluted path to transition – with the clear opposition from some sectors and the multiple delays from CMS – has left some healthcare providers clamoring to meet the deadline.
