ClinicalConnect Continues To Increase Patient Safety, Reduce Health Care Costs And Improve Clinical Workflows

Powered by MEDSEEK, ClinicalConnect Improves the Healthcare Experience for 2 Million Patients and 5,500 Physicians in Ontario, Canada

MEDSEEK, the provider of the healthcare industry's only enterprise strategic patient engagement and management solutions, recently announced the continued success of ClinicalConnect, the Ontario, Canada-based clinical data aggregation system used by 28 regional hospitals, 2500 healthcare providers, Community Care Access Centers, and 2 Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs).

ClinicalConnect, powered by MEDSEEK's strategic patient management solutions, is a "Virtual EMR" that provides physicians, clinicians and healthcare providers with secure, timely and accurate web-based clinical data for more than two million patients in the Waterloo Wellington and the Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant LHINs.

"ClinicalConnect is all about integrating the patient care," said Dr. Barry Lumb, Chief of Medicine at Hamilton Health Sciences for the ClinicalConnect interview. "Everything that happens to the patient in our entire LHIN is available to the clinician."

"Every time your decisions are more informed, your patient safety and patient outcome is improved," added Dr. Rafi Setrak, Emergency Physician at Niagara Health Systems.

ClinicalConnect provides regional hospitals and community care access centers secure, accurate real-time access to integrated and comprehensive clinical data for all patients in the LHINs, which improves patient care by reducing the risk of medical errors, decreases the time spent on searching for patient data and mitigates the cost of duplicated lab and diagnostic tests.

"ClinicalConnect saves money by avoiding duplication," said Dr. Lumb, "and it saves money by making people's time more efficient."

Care providers can access ClinicalConnect patient health data through desktop computers in addition to mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets and netbooks.

"We need ClinicalConnect," said Dr. Jennifer Everson, Physician Lead, Clinical Planning at HNHB LHIN. "We need the ability for information to be communicated fast and effectively. This is what our patients deserve and this is what our healthcare providers deserve."

"MEDSEEK is very proud to be a part of the ClinicalConnect success story," said Peter Kuhn, MEDSEEK CEO. "Providing healthcare organizations the solutions to leverage existing investments to strategically engage patients and manage patient health, reduce costs, improve workflows and increase patient safety are core MEDSEEK values."

MEDSEEK's strategic patient engagement and management solutions are implemented across Canada and enable the sharing of more than 5.5 million patient records, 15% of Canada's population, and more than 5,000 physicians.

About ClinicalConnect
ClinicalConnect is a secure portal that provides physicians and clinicians with real-time access to their patients' electronic health records and supports eHealth Ontario's objectives of providing seamless access to electronic health records across the continuum of care. ClinicalConnect will also support the delivery of other systems such as: e-Referral, Scheduling and Diabetes Management.

In Ontario, LHINs use ClinicalConnect to improve healthcare providers' accessibility to patient information, leading to better patient care and safety, reduced costs, seamless integration and delivery of patient care, and improved outcomes while enhancing the patient experience across the continuum of care. LHINs are the only organizations in Ontario that bring together health care partners from the following sectors-hospitals, community care, community support services, community mental health and addictions, community health centers and long-term care-to develop innovative, collaborative solutions leading to more timely access to high quality services for the residents of Ontario. By supporting these important partnerships, LHINs are ensuring that Ontarians have access to an effective and efficient health care system that delivers improved health care results and a better patient experience.

"MEDSEEK's success with ClinicalConnect and their leadership position in Canada reinforces the strategic partnership between OnX and MEDSEEK," said Chris Carbone, Vice President of Sales - Healthcare Practice, OnX.
