Point-of-service solution digitizes intake, automates eligibility, and much more for South Carolina Orthopedic Center.

SC Sports Medicine & Orthopedic Center (SCSM) has partnered with Phreesia, a healthcare point-of-service provider, to implement a solution that will expedite patient check-in. Through a range of digital applications, including electronic form management, flexible payment options, automatically administered clinical assessments, and a range of patient communication applications, Phreesia helps SCSM staff shift attention away from manual work, and focus instead on providing exceptional patient care.

Additionally, Phreesia integrates with the practice's system of record, athenahealth, to streamline administrative tasks and reduce errors by eliminating the need for paperwork and manual data entry.

Behind its front desk, SCSM’s staff can use the Phreesia Dashboard – secure, online tool – as a window into its waiting room. Its staff will have the ability to manage patient information and payments, track patient check-in progress, and view real-time eligibility along with deductible information.

SCSM’s primary goal is to provide its patients with the highest quality of medical care. Its staff is committed to serving patients’ needs in a caring and courteous manner. SCSM’s state-of-the-art facility is located and designed to meet all patients’ needs including having the ability to perform many surgical procedures in its office.

All physicians at SCSM are board certified in orthopedic surgery or board eligible and have also received additional fellowship training in their respective sub-specialties. Their expertise includes sports medicine, knee surgery, shoulder surgery, arthroscopic surgery, hand surgery, surgery of the upper and lower extremities, reconstructive joint replacement, and surgical and non-operative treatment of the spine.

SCSM has some reason to believe this implementation will be a success. As for its part, Phreesia has shown the ability to help other orthopedic clinics similar to itself.

Alabama Orthopedic Clinic (AOC), a nationally-recognized leader in orthopedic care that sees nearly 3,600 patients per week partnered with Phreesia to improve its own front-office. Like any center of excellence, AOC was looking for ways to improve its collections, and turned to Phreesia to help it collect copays and balances at the point of service. The group also utilizes Phreesia’s state-of-the-art interface with Greenway PrimeSUITE to streamline its intake workflow and reduce manual data entry.

When AOC started checking in all patients with the PhreesiaPad, it saw an immediate impact on its bottom line: a 29 percent jump in total collections, 60 percent of which came from balances alone.
