Beaumont Health System Selects InterSystems HealthShare

Moves to Strategic Healthcare Informatics Platform to Execute Enterprise Integration

Reflecting the transition to connected care among medical centers throughout the United States, InterSystems Corporation recently announced that Beaumont Health System has selected InterSystems HealthShare as its strategic informatics platform.

Moving to Enterprise-Wide Connected Care
An integrated delivery network (IDN) that includes three major hospitals and multiple clinics and extended care centers in southeast  Michigan, Beaumont’s annual revenues top $2.1B. It is recognized nationally for its optimal use of healthcare technology and, most recently, was included in the InformationWeek 500 list of Top Technology Innovators for 2011.

The transition to HealthShare was driven by the need to replace a legacy integration engine that had multiple limitations in its monitoring and alert capabilities and requirements for downtime in order to perform any interface update. “In addition, we wanted more built-in interfaces and more advanced communications capabilities than were available in the legacy software,” said Subra Sripada, executive vice president, chief administrative and information officer at Beaumont Health System.

InterSystems HealthShare is a strategic informatics platform that connects readily to internal and external systems to enable sharing of patient information and active analytics. HealthShare incorporates the seamless integration technology delivered by InterSystems Ensemble as well as the performance and massive scalability of the InterSystems CACHÉ database system.

Beaumont conducted a detailed product evaluation with weighted categories that included reliability, stability, throughput, ability to handle high volumes of data, and effort required for implementation. “We also spoke with our peers at multiple healthcare provider organizations,” said Sripada. “The feedback was very enlightening. Support was a recurring theme with every organization’s staff and InterSystems customers provided positive feedback on the support that they received.” “Beaumont’s selection of InterSystems HealthShare for enterprise connectivity reflects the growing emphasis on connected care that we’re seeing among IDNs nationwide,” said Paul Grabscheid, InterSystems Vice President of Strategic Planning. “It’s clear that seamless communication, both internally and with external provider organizations, is an organizational priority for today’s healthcare networks.
