Awarepoint's RTLS To Be Featured At The Intelligent Hospital Pavilion, And American College Of Clinical Engineering At HIMSS13

Awarepoint's Booth #6918 will also feature the company's new Bed and Bay Sensor

Awarepoint Corporation, the largest real-time location system (RTLS) corporation dedicated exclusively to healthcare, recently announced that its integrated RTLS platform will be featured at the RFID in Healthcare Consortium (RHCC) Intelligent Hospital (IH) Pavilion at HIMSS13 (Healthcare Information Management Systems Society 2013 Annual Conference & Exhibition), March 4th-6th, in New Orleans. Visitors to the IH Pavilion will interact with RTLS and RFID applications that can improve patient care and safety while reducing operating expenses. Participants will explore Awarepoint's approach to improving asset management, patient flow, and care team efficiency in the interactive Emergency Room and Surgical Suite, as well as Awarepoint's IH Pavilion kiosk.

Awarepoint offers the only complete RTLS solution for optimizing healthcare workflow. "We look forward to demonstrating how our hospital clients are leveraging RTLS to gain a competitive advantage," stated Jay Deady, president and CEO of Awarepoint. "We will demonstrate our ability to capture real-time data that automatically populates the EHR and other HIT systems and produces immediate, actionable information that helps maximize the value of these major investments."

Awarepoint is also sponsoring the American College of Clinical Engineering's (ACCE) Clinical Engineering & IT/ACCE Awards Reception on Monday, March 4th at 6:30 pm at the Marriott Convention Center, River Bend Room. During this event, Deady will describe how innovative hospitals are forging new frontiers in RTLS by creating novel patient safety guardrails and fostering patient flow, thereby improving overall quality and satisfaction.

"Awarepoint is proud to sponsor ACCE and their mission of enhancing the profession of clinical engineering through advocacy, patient safety initiatives and professional development," Deady said. "We share their commitment and look forward to increasing awareness about how ACCE and HIMSS members can integrate and leverage RTLS solutions with medical devices and clinical systems to transform clinical, operational, and financial outcomes."

"We are very grateful for Awarepoint's support of our organizational initiatives, as well as our HIMSS and AAMI programs," said Mario Castaneda, Past President of ACCE. "As the pressure of health reform continues to bear down on hospitals, our members appreciate Awarepoint's genuine collaboration and dedication to making patient care safer, more efficient and of higher quality."

HIMSS attendees can also see a demonstration of Awarepoint's new Bed and Bay Sensor at Booth #6918. This new sensor uses non-disruptive, plug-and-play technology pioneered by Awarepoint to provide a higher degree of location accuracy than previously available. Mobile equipment and patient and caregiver interactions can now be precisely tracked in locations with tight-bed spacing or that are separated only by curtains, such as the emergency department (ED), including triage areas, and pre- and post-anesthesia care. The device was successfully tested at Delaware-based Christiana Care Health System and will be generally available on March 31, 2013. Booth visitors will also learn about Awarepoint's comprehensive, interoperable RTLS offerings and how they are enabling hospitals to improve patient care, streamline workflow and boost productivity.

Awarepoint's aware360°Suite automates and streamlines asset management, ED and OR care, capacity management, patient flow, caregiver coordination, quality and regulatory compliance, and patient and staff satisfaction. The suite spans the entire hospital enterprise, leveraging tag location and movement to track report on, and proactively improve asset, staff, and patient workflows.
