Archimedes, Inc. Receives Best Of Care Applications Award For Clinical Decision Support Tool, IndiGO
Award Presented at the Health Data Initiative III Forum: The Health Datapalooza
IndiGO (Individualized Guidelines and Outcomes), the physician and patient decision support tool, created by the healthcare modeling company Archimedes, Inc., was recognized with the “Best of Care Applications” award at the 2012 Health Data Initiative III: The Health Datapalooza annual event held earlier this month in Washington, D.C. The Health Data Initiative, now guided by the Health Data Consortium, encourages innovators to utilize health data to develop applications to raise awareness of health and health system performance, and spark community action to improve health. Archimedes was one of 17 companies, chosen by a panel of judges from among more than 200 contending companies, to present during the main stage session at Health Datapalooza.
“‘The Best of Care Applications’ award for IndiGO represents further recognition of the value of clinical decision support, delivered at the point of patient care,” said Josh Adler, vice president of Archimedes and IndiGO business leader. “IndiGO’s unique capabilities, in the hands of our physician partners, have been found to drive better patient engagement and increase adherence, leading to improved outcomes and lower costs.”
IndiGO analyzes person-specific health information from a patient’s electronic health record, and then applies advanced algorithms which incorporate clinical evidence related to diseases, behaviors, and interventions. The results generated by IndiGO provide a graphical representation of an individual’s risk of having a heart attack or stroke, developing diabetes, and the predicted impact of interventions, such as lifestyle changes and medications that are most effective at reducing these risks. IndiGO and individualized guidelines can be used at the point-of-patient care, involving the patient in the decision making process and improving collaboration between patient and provider. IndiGO is designed for use within ACOs, medical groups, integrated delivery networks (IDN), independent practice associations (IPA), and patient-centered medical homes (PCMH).
About Archimedes
Archimedes, Inc. is a healthcare modeling organization. Its core technology - the Archimedes Model - is a clinically realistic, mathematical model of human physiology, diseases, interventions and healthcare systems. The Model is continually validated by comparing the results of simulated trials to the results of real multi-national clinical trials and cohort studies.
Through innovations such as IndiGO and ARCHeS, Archimedes helps people understand the implications of their decisions and for the last 15 years has been relied upon to answer complex, real world questions for health plans, health systems, medical groups, pharmaceutical companies, researchers, and other organizations in the United States and Europe. Archimedes, a Kaiser Permanente Innovation, is based in San Francisco, California. For more information, visit www.archimedesmodel.com.
About the Health Data Initiative
The Health Data Initiative (HDI), originally launched in 2010 by the Institute of Medicine and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as the Community Health Data Initiative, is a public-private collaboration that encourages innovators to utilize health data to develop applications to raise awareness of health and health system performance and spark community action to improve health. HDI forums bring together a diverse group of data experts, technology developers, entrepreneurs, policy makers, health care system leaders, and community advocates to support innovative application of health and health care data.
