Anton/Bauer Launches New Hot Swappable Power Systems That Raise Medical Industry Standards For Mobile Computing
New HotSwap products, including industry's first lithium-iron phosphate hot swappable system, offer unsurpassed battery life and capacity to eliminate downtime in demanding healthcare settings
Anton/Bauer, the world's premier provider of batteries, chargers, and other mobile power systems for the healthcare industry, recently launched two "hot swappable" power systems that set new industry standards for battery life, performance and capacity at the HIMSS12 Health IT Conference and Exhibition (booth #4869).
Anton/Bauer's new Dionic-LiFe is the medical industry's first lithium-iron (LiFe) phosphate hot swappable battery, which raises the bar for long-term performance. Dionic-270 offers the highest capacity hot swappable battery for mobile computing to deliver long run-times that keep workstations on the go.
Hot swappable power systems are increasingly popular because they eliminate the need to log off to change batteries as required with conventional swappable systems. Because workstations never need to be plugged into a wall, Anton/Bauer's HotSwap product line reduces hallway clutter and ensures compliance with Joint Commission standards.
"Our new power systems offer the performance and flexibility hospitals need to meet the challenge of mobile computing by delivering 24/7 performance, zero downtime for battery changes and 100 percent mobility," said Patrick Ney, vice president, Mobile Power Systems. "These new products further strengthen our HotSwap product line that is compatible with any mobile computing workstation and enables hospitals to select from several battery chemistries to meet performance and budget goals."
The LiFe chemistry is already a popular choice for mobile computing because its long cycle life translates to low cost of ownership. Anton/Bauer's Dionic-LiFe delivers long-term performance while maintaining high levels of capacity to provide a lifetime battery for workstations.
The Dionic-270's lightweight, high-capacity design delivers long run-times, reducing the number of chargers needed on nursing units to keep batteries powered. The next-generation technology is similar to batteries that have been used successfully since 2009 at Yale-New Haven Hospital, the primary teaching hospital for the Yale School of Medicine.
Before selecting the wireless carts with the Anton/Bauer HotSwap system, the hospital often faced challenges with its battery systems, according to Alton Gloer, systems architect at Yale-New Haven Hospital. "There were times when our battery systems only lasted a couple of hours," said Gloer. "The Anton/Bauer battery solution made our selected mobile workstation a lot more attractive."
The new power systems offer the flexibility to power workstations with one or two batteries to further extend run-times. The Dionic-LiFe and Dionic-270 feature a secure locking battery interface that is easy to clean.
Like all Anton/Bauer batteries, the new products work with the Interactive Charging System that enables users to re-charge many different battery types with one device. This ‘smart' technology ensures compatibility with future cell chemistries by adjusting requirements with a simple software upgrade. Every Anton/Bauer battery is compatible with all Anton/Bauer chargers. The advanced system ensures compatibility as battery technology continues to advance.
Made in the U.S., Anton/Bauer's mobile power system solutions are built on more than 40 years of experience. Designed to work with any mobile computing workstation, Anton/Bauer's products include patented technology that increases overall battery life and runtimes. The company's product line includes both swappable and conventional models in a wide range of configurations, size and chemistries to match any hospitals needs for capacity, runtime and other features.
