American Association Of Endocrine Surgeons Selects ArborMetrix's Real-Time Clinical Performance Analytics Engine To Establish New National Outcomes Registry

Real-time outcomes reporting, benchmarking; predictive analytics and configurable dashboards position AAES members for successful transition to shared accountability care/payment models

ArborMetrix, Inc., a Mich.-based healthcare analytics and software company specializing in the measurement of hospital and specialty-based care, recently announced that the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons (AAES) has selected its clinical performance analytics engine to provide the analytics, dynamic database, real-time reporting, and technology infrastructure for its new national clinical outcomes registry.

As part of its Collaborative Endocrine Surgery Quality Improvement Program, the AAES will use ArborMetrix's cloud-based solution to build a national registry and reporting system available to all AAES members. The registry will measure endocrine surgery performance, including thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal and neuroendocrine tumors procedures, to provide AAES members with actionable intelligence to enhance quality and lower the cost of the care they provide. Members that participate in the registry will also benefit from a broad range of evidence-based insights to help them successfully navigate the transition from fee-for-service to value-based purchasing.

The registry will be available to all AAES members. Early registry participants include: Mount Sinai Medical Center, New York City; Duke Medical Center, Durham, NC; MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX; Alberta Health Services, Alberta, Canada; and other organizations, which have already signed on to aggregate their data and measure their performance. All AAES members will have the same opportunity once this is completed.

"We evaluated several solutions, but ArborMetrix's platform was an easy choice because of its superior functionality; configurability; affordability; track record; speed-to-value; rigorous algorithms and methodologies that generate actionable intelligence; and dynamic database that automatically adjusts performance measures for risk and severity," said AAES member William B. Inabnet III, M.D., F.A.C.S., Mount Sinai Medical Center's Eugene W. Friedman Professor of Surgery; Chief, Division of Metabolic, Endocrine and Minimally Invasive Surgery; and Director of Surgical Sciences, Metabolism Institute.

Dr. Inabnet added, "We're also confident that ArborMetrix's solution will facilitate clinical research to develop, refine and incorporate best practices for endocrine surgery and will make it easier for AAES members who are board certified in endocrine surgery to comply with the American Board of Surgery's Maintenance of Certification (MOC) requirement that they evaluate how well their practice is performing."

"We look forward to helping the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons create a clinical outcomes registry that will provide the specific tools and information to support the association's goal of 'discovering and promoting the best treatments for endocrine disease to help improve patients' lives,'" stated Brett Furst, ArborMetrix CEO. "Our clinical analytics platform will enable the AAES to meet the specific needs of its membership, supporting them in their efforts to improve quality and outcomes for patients who need endocrine surgery."
