Allscripts Users Conference Draws Record 3,500 Attendees
Allscripts recently launched its annual Allscripts Client Experience (ACE) conference with a record 3,500 attendees, a 20 percent increase from 2009.
The ACE keynote address by Allscripts Chief Executive Officer Glen Tullman will focus on the opportunity to build connected healthcare communities, enabling teams of providers to collaborate to deliver better care, no matter where they practice or which technology system they use. The keynote was previewed in an editorial written by Mr. Tullman and published last night in Healthcare IT News.
Mr. Tullman's keynote will also highlight the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), featuring a video message from Dr. David Blumenthal, National Coordinator for Health Information Technology. Dr. Blumenthal will discuss the government's plan for implementing the "meaningful use" rule defining how physicians can qualify for financial incentives under ARRA.

The conference is the largest gathering of its kind since the federal government's July 13th release of the final rule on "meaningful use" of Electronic Health Records.

Featuring over 300 educational sessions led by healthcare leaders and industry presenters, ACE provides the opportunity to share best practices on the deployment and utilization of health information technology as well as previews of the latest versions of Allscripts solutions.
In addition to highlighting the product innovation for which Allscripts is known, ACE will feature the "process innovations" that Allscripts has put in place to ensure clients can take advantage of "meaningful use. "For example, with the Allscripts READY accelerated deployment process, clients are able to implement the Allscripts Enterprise Electronic Health Record in just 14 weeks, down from the previous average of 14 months. Mr. Tullman will end his keynote with the story of Milton and Fred Ochieng, physician brothers trained in America, who founded the Lwala Community Health Center to provide free care to residents of their remote home village in Lwala, Kenya. The video describes the visit to Lwala of Dr. Luke Bonnet, a Columbia, S.C. pediatrician who, with the support of Allscripts, flew to Kenya recently to assist in the health center for two weeks.
