Agfa HealthCare Introduces IMPAX Mobile Worklist And Supports Paperless Goal Of Via Christi Clinic In Wichita, Kansas

Collecting RIS information, including patient signatures via Apple iPad mobile digital devices, lowers administrative costs and improves care delivery

  • IMPAX Mobile Worklist enhances workflow efficiency for the technologist by providing patient details from any location in the hospital and creating a paperless workflow
  • Reduces wait times and increases patient-centered interaction
  • Mobile RIS application provides administration with concise analysis on departmental efficiency

(RSNA 2012 Booth #411, Lakeside Hall) Agfa HealthCare announced recently the availability of its IMPAX Mobile Worklist in the U.S. and Canada, enabling technologists to enter and access patient data and clinical information from any location, including in the emergency room, during portable exams, or at the patient's bedside. Already in use at Via Christi Clinic, Wichita, Kansas, the system is supporting the facility's paperless goals and making the most up-to-date information readily available, adding greater efficiency to the imaging exam process.

IMPAX Mobile Worklist is an upgrade to Agfa HealthCare's IMPAX RIS that enables mobile devices, such as an Apple iPad mobile digital device, to collect RIS data including patient information and signatures, electronically. The ability to enter and access this information, real time, regardless of location within the facility, translates to better informed technologists, a paperless workflow, a more efficient exam process, and increased patient satisfaction.

"With Agfa HealthCare's IMPAX Mobile Worklist we now have a true paperless workflow for radiology that enables us to be more efficient, more informed, and to increase patient satisfaction," said Larry Leopold, Director of Radiology, Via Christi Clinic. "The fact that technologists can obtain information at the point of care via a mobile device allows them to keep complete focus on the priority- providing the highest level of care to our patients."

Achieving paperless workflow
Starting at the front desk, IMPAX Mobile Worklist is designed to improve a radiology department or imaging center's workflow by enabling staff to eliminate paper at the check-in process by collecting patient data, including signatures, electronically. Eliminating the use of paper also helps to reduce error or misinterpretation and makes key information available to all staff at all times.

Technologists can also use it to collect medical information such as allergies or other health issues, and then ask for the patients to complete questionnaires. They can then present this information, as well as concise analysis on patient wait times and technologist efficiency, to the radiologist throughout the workflow.

Real-Time Access beyond the boundaries of the radiology department
IMPAX Mobile Worklist also improves technologists' workflow on the hospital floor, away from the radiology department. Its flexibility allows a technologist or physician to take it on rounds or dock it on the desktop. Technologists have first-hand access to all exams for a selected day, including completed, scheduled, and ongoing exams. IMPAX Mobile Worklist provides the ability to begin, end, and re-queue exams on the mobile screen with the ability to track, in real-time, patient arrivals without being tied to a RIS workstation.

"IMPAX Mobile Worklist delivers mobility and reliability at the point of care," said Amy Golinski, Senior Marketing Manager, Agfa HealthCare U.S. "It puts information into the hands of the technologists wherever they need it, beyond the confines of just the radiology department, eliminating workflow interruption and allowing more time to care for the patient."
