Arkansas hospital expects to increase safety, care quality and staff efficiency with implementation of T-System documentation and coding solution.

Arkansas Methodist Medical Center (AMMC), in conjunction with T-System Inc., recently announced an agreement to deliver a complete end-to-end emergency department solution aimed at improving patient safety and reimbursement. Complete integration of T-System’s documentation and coding solution is slated for fall, aligning the entire medical center on the new platform.

Lana Williams, RN, MSN, CPHQ, chief nursing officer for AMMC, said, “It’s imperative that we’re reimbursed for the services we provide in order to survive in today’s healthcare environment. With T-System, we feel confident we are moving forward with the latest technology to solve these concerns.”

T-System’s ER facility coding advanced solution verifies charges and applies specific rules appropriately and includes an advanced calculator for infusions, injections, and hydrations. Clients benefit from an expert-level review to determine if more than one of the services may be considered an initial service.

AMMC’s mission is to provide the highest quality healthcare and promote wellness to the people and communities it serves, thus establishing the medical center as the first-choice for healthcare. The hospital is currently a Level IV trauma center as designated by the state but is working toward becoming a Level III trauma center, the highest trauma designation in Northeast Arkansas.

After being selected as vendor of choice for Arkansas Methodist, T-System completed a 100-chart assessment of previously billed emergency department charts. The assessment identified documentation and coding inadequacies to estimate the five-year return on investment opportunity.

The center’s Emergency Services Department at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center offers a 24-hour service to the patients in the region and is often the first experience an individual may have with AMMC. The 13 treatment rooms in the ER include Cardiac and Trauma rooms that offer state-of-the-art monitoring equipment and personalized care.
