ACE15: Allscripts Open, Connected Community Convenes To Improve Healthcare IT

More than 3,000 attendees including medical and IT professionals will gather at Allscripts annual user conference, Allscripts Client Experience (ACE), to advance smarter health care.

Allscripts will host ACE15 in Boston, Mass., at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center (BCEC), August 5 – 7, 2015. Allscripts employees, partners and clients will collaborate to demonstrate how the “Power of All” helps enable precision care, build healthy populations and inspire innovation.

Paul Black, Allscripts
Paul Black serves as Allscripts’ Chief Executive Officer and President. Mr. Black was appointed CEO in December 2012 after having served on Allscripts Board of Directors for eight months. As CEO, Black leads the direction of the company and its global commitment to delivering an Open, Connected Community of Health™. Prior to joining Allscripts, Black spent more than 13 years with Cerner Corporation in various executive positions, retiring as Cerner’s Chief Operating Officer in 2007. During his tenure with Cerner, he helped build the company into a market leader in healthcare information technology with more than $1.5B in annual revenue.

Patrick Soon-Shiong, M.D., FRCS (C), FACS., NantHealth
Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong, a physician, surgeon and scientist, has pioneered novel therapies for both diabetes and cancer, published over 100 scientific papers, and has over 95 issued patents on groundbreaking advancements spanning myriad fields.

Dr. Soon-Shiong performed the world’s first encapsulated human islet transplant, the first engineered islet cell transplant and the first pig to man islet cell transplant in diabetic patients. He invented and developed Abraxane, the nation’s first FDA approved protein nanoparticle albumin-bound delivery technology for the treatment of cancer. In 2011 he founded NantHeath, an ecosystem of companies to create a transformative global health information and next generation pharmaceutical development network, for the secure sharing of genetic and medical information.

Regina Holliday
Holliday is a national spokesperson and advocate for healthcare technology and the patient experience. Her advocacy mission was inspired by her husband’s struggle with getting appropriate care after he was diagnosed with kidney cancer. After his death in 2009, she began work on “73 Cents,” a mural depicting the inaccessible technological tools surrounding his death that brings attentions to the need for clarity and transparency in medical records.

The author of two books, Holliday spoke at the MU Stage One announcement and is an H.I.T. Men and Women Award winner.

    This presentation will describe how, using KBMA of Sunrise and full deployment of CPOE, AGH achieved 86% reduction in medication errors. AGH also achieved HIMSS EMRAM Level 6.
  • Achieving Patient Centered Specialty Practice Recognition through successful EMR Implementation –Hospital for Special Care (HSC)
    HSC will present its’ unique approach to successful EMR implementation based on the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), Primary Care Specialty Practice (PCSP) recognition requirements. HSC was the first PCSP recognized in Connecticut and the first PCSP recognized for Autism in the nation from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).
  • Managing IS Outages and Emergency Incidents in Healthcare Organizations – Baylor, Scott & White Health (BS&W)
    Critical events happen while care givers are providing patient care. It can be a complex situation for example a patient under investigation for Ebola or the Hospital Information Systems (HIS) is down. BS&W will present how it utilized today’s enterprise protocols and cutting-edge solutions to help manage these events, utilize workflow and technology to significantly reduce HIS operational downtime and assemble the right people to address the situation without alerting the patient and their families.
