East Jefferson General Hospital (EJGH) is a 450 bed, not-for-profit community hospital serving the east bank of Jefferson Parish, LA. EJGH considers itself to be a progressive provider, striving for improved patient care by embracing innovation and collaboration with its 3,000 team members and a medical staff of 900. And it's not all lip service, because through EJGH's dedication to its staff and patient care, the hospital was recognized as part of the ANCC (American Nurses' Credentialing Center) Magnet Recognition Program. The Magnet Recognition Program recognizes healthcare organizations for quality patient care, nursing excellence, and innovations in professional nursing practice. EJGH was the first hospital in the state of Louisiana to receive Magnet designation and was one of only a handful of hospitals able to raise their standards high enough to earn the distinction of being re-designated two additional times. Perhaps part of this success is due to the hospital's willingness to explore and implement mobility options to leverage information and gain greater value from its Cerner EMR.
