4medica And Alcatel-Lucent To Demonstrate Technology Collaboration At 2011 International MUSE Conference
Companies to showcase clinical integration and wireless healthcare solutions for hospitals using MEDITECH's Health Care Information System
4medica, provider of the industry's leading cloud software-as-a-service (SaaS) clinical integration platform, announced that it will showcase the interoperability of the company's Integrated Health Record (IHR) solution with Alcatel-Lucent's TeleHealth Manager and My Teamworkapplications at MEDITECH'S 2011 International Medical Users Software (MUSE) Conference.
During the four-day conference, which will be held May 31-June 3 at the Gaylord Opryland in Nashville, Tenn., 4medica and Alcatel-Lucent will conduct demonstrations at Booth # 223 and Booth # 225, respectively, showing how their solutions facilitate compliance with Stage 1 meaningful use of electronic health records (EHRs) and enhance the quality, safety and cost effectiveness of care for hospitals using MEDITECH's Health Care Information System.
Through this technology collaboration, patient vitals and data can automatically be captured and recorded from any portal or bedside vital monitors and wirelessly fed into the 4medica IHR, which seamlessly integrates the same data into the MEDITECH system.
"4medica's IHR solution improves clinician access to patient data across the continuum of care, enabling physicians and nurses to make more informed treatment decisions and provide faster care," said Jim White, Alcatel-Lucent's vice president of connected hospital sales. "Combining its clinical integration capabilities with our telehealth and virtual communication expertise will save clinicians data entry time, eliminate costly transcription errors, and provide time-stamped, web-accessible data to providers 24x7."
4medica's cloud-based clinical integration and health information exchange platform enables hospitals to leverage and connect existing hospital information systems, ambulatory EHRs and other disparate technologies, creating a longitudinal, real-time patient-centric record that promotes better and safer decision-making.
Alcatel-Lucent's TeleHealth Manager is a remote patient monitoring service that leverages the mobile networks of service providers to improve healthcare. It allows patients and healthcare professionals to monitor and manage chronic health issues, such as diabetes, hypertension and heart disease. When seamlessly integrated with 4medica's Integrated Health Record solution, patient history, vitals and data on blood sugar, blood pressure, cholesterol and more can be shared with healthcare professionals using smartphones, tablets and other web connected devices. Alcatel-Lucent's My Teamwork application enables hospitals to conduct secure multimedia, multiparty audio, Web or HD video conferences with everyone involved in the care process--from employed and referring physicians, nurses and other clinicians to patients. As a result, better health awareness is provided enabling greater patient independence, as well an improved early detection and prevention.
"Providers are facing daunting challenges to coordinate care across the continuum as the Oct. 1, 2012 compliance deadline for Stage 1 meaningful use and Medicare's Jan. 1, 2012 kickoff of the Accountable Care Organization (ACO) payment model loom closer," said Oleg Bess, M.D., 4medica's CEO. "We and Alcatel-Lucent look forward to demonstrating how our technologies help hospitals streamline workflow and support I.T. interoperability, clinical data exchange and care coordination efficiently and cost effectively."
