OhioHealth will use Edifecs ICD-10 Impact Analytics and ICD-10 Code Management to automate much of the work required to analyze claims data, create code maps from ICD-9 to ICD-10 and further prioritize education and training efforts for nearly 22,000 healthcare associates and medical staff.

The transition from ICD-9 to ICD-10 represents one of the most wide-ranging impacts to a healthcare provider’s business. Given the dramatic increase in codes from roughly 18,000 to approximately 155,000, processes for scheduling, care delivery, diagnostics, billing, and analytics will likely change in some way. One of the biggest concerns for providers, however, is revenue cycle neutrality. Providers could experience significant payment variation under ICD-10 compared to ICD-9, depending on which ICD-10 codes they use when submitting claims.
