Clinical Decision Making App

New York Health and Hospitals Corporation selects mobile clinical decision support resource to improve decision making at the point of care.

New York Health and Hospitals Corporation (HHC), the United States’ largest municipal healthcare organization, has selected UpToDate Anywhere as its mobile-enabled clinical decision support resource, entering into a five year contract with Wolters Kluwer Health. As HHC clinicians are becoming increasingly reliant on iPads, iPhones, and tablets, UpToDate Anywhere has drastic potential to improve point of care clinical decision-making at any location in the expansive healthcare system.

“With an institution the size of New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation, UpToDate Anywhere’s mobile access becomes essential for ensuring availability of its clinical content to all clinicians throughout their organization, from central hospitals to clinics in the community,” said Denise Basow, MD, VP/GM, UpToDate at Wolters Kluwer Health, Clinical Solutions.

HHC healthcare system publicly operates from 11 acute care hospitals, five nursing facilities, six diagnostic and treatment centers, and over 70 community clinics in New York City, providing 1.4 million residents with medical, mental health, and substance abuse services. In recent years, HHC has received recognition for its advanced clinical information system which includes a comprehensive electronic health record.

HHC public hospitals have won the Nicholas E. Davies award for the use of clinical information technology, HHC President Alan Aviles received the CEO IT Achievement Award from the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society and Modern Healthcare Magazine for leading use of information technology to advance healthcare excellence, and HHC's North Bronx Healthcare Network was awarded Hospitals and Health Networks' Most Wired Award four consecutive years for its use of information technology in safety, quality, customer service, business processes, and workforce training.

UpToDate mobile app is rated as one of “The Best Apps in Publishing” by EContent Magazine, and is available on iOS, Android™, Windows 8 mobile, and any internet browser. The software also comes with Continuing Medical Education functionality: providers earn CME credits while using the app to search clinical questions.
