Known for its quality education, the 2016 Annual HIMSS Conference & Exhibition Call for Proposals and Call for Reviewers will be open from May 1 through June 15.

The search is now on for those wanting to present educational content, and to review the proposals received, for HIMSS16, which will take place Feb. 29-March 4, 2016, in Las Vegas, Nev.! Tell us your amazing story. We want to know how IT is transforming the quality, safety, access, and cost-effectiveness of health and healthcare in your setting; what your journey has taught you; and, how you overcame barriers, obstacles, and pitfalls.

The HIMSS 16 Call for Proposals: Proposal submissions should demonstrate a case study approach on the adoption and optimal use of health information technology and management systems.

HIMSS16 Call for Proposals is open Friday, May 1 through Monday, June 15, 2015, 5 p.m. CDT.

“The HIMSS’ Annual Conference Education Committee (ACEC), consisting of 12 appointed volunteers from all membership constituencies, carefully designs the annual conference program to meet the needs of HIMSS’ audiences,” said JoAnn Klinedinst, HIMSS vice president, professional development. “Each year, HIMSS’s Annual Conference offers over 300 general education sessions that are selected from this peer-reviewed process.”

With approximately 17 topic categories, those that appear annually include:

  • Leadership, Governance, Strategic Planning
  • Health Information Exchange and Interoperability, Innovative Processes, Solutions and Emerging Technologies
  • Clinical & Business Intelligence
  • Connected Health (previously mHealth, Mobile, Telehealth)
  • EHRs/Meaningful Use and
  • Consumer and Patient Engagement.

HIMSS16 Call for Reviewers: HIMSS members may review and recommend proposals within their areas of expertise that have been submitted for the annual conference. Reviewers may also mentor speakers through the preparation process; act as a moderator for the conference session, and join the ACEC, which makes the final speaker selections. “The peer review process used by HIMSS enhances the efficiency and maximizes the quality of the education offerings to our conference attendees,” said Klinedinst. “Annual HIMSS Conference & Exhibition Reviewers are the backbone of the HIMSS conference education process. HIMSS engages over 200 volunteer subject matter experts to review proposals.”

HIMSS 16 Call for Reviewers is open Friday, May 1 through June 15, 2015.
