HIMSS Analytics Honors Three Healthe At Cerner Clinics With Stage 7 Ambulatory Awards

The HIMSS Stage 7 Awards honors ambulatory facilitiesoperating in a paperless environment and representing best practices in implementing EHR.

HIMSS Analytics awarded three Healthe at Cerner clinics, located in Kansas City, Mo. with Stage 7 Ambulatory Awards.

Developed in 2011, the EMR Ambulatory Adoption Model provides a methodology for evaluating the progress and impact of electronic medical record systems for ambulatory facilities owned by hospitals in the HIMSS Analytics Database. These facilities include physician practices, clinics, outpatient centers and specialty clinics. Tracking their progress in completing eight stages (0-7), ambulatory facilities can review the implementation and use of IT applications with the intent of reaching Stage 7, which represents an advanced electronic patient record environment.

During the third quarter of 2014 only 4.37 percent of the more than 27,000 ambulatory clinics in the HIMSS Analytics Database received the Stage 7 Ambulatory Award .

“Our own associate’s and their families are receiving the highest quality health and care in addition to the most personalized experience possible delivered through the technology that they have created,” said Dr. David Nill, Cerner vice president and chief medical officer for Healthe at Cerner. “Receiving the Stage 7 distinction was validation that we truly are among the elite of those innovating at the edge to maximize for the now and innovate for the next.”

Since opening in 2006, the Healthe Clinic has provided Cerner associates and their families’ patient-centered, integrative quality care in a nurturing environment. As a Medical Home, the clinic’s care team continues fulfilling its vision of transforming the health care delivery process and experience through personalization and technology. Members of the Medical Home will develop a mindful, clinician-patient partnership built around trust, respect, and shared decision making.

Cerner associates and their families have the option of using the onsite Healthe Clinic, Pharmacy and full-service Fitness Center at three Cerner campuses in the Kansas City metro area. Services provided at the Healthe Clinics include primary care, urgent care, health coaching, behavioral health, maternity navigation, chiropractic, laboratory and pharmacy services. Members can schedule appointments online and utilize secure messaging with providers through a personal health management platform.

“Healthe at Cerner clinics are truly paperless. We found NO paper in any of the care areas,” said John Daniels, CNM, FACHE, FHIMSS, CPHIMS, vice president, strategic relations, HIMSS. “Patient engagement is also very strong, with around 80 percent of patients actively using the patient portal.”

The Healthe at Cerner clinics will be recognized at the 2015 Annual HIMSS Conference & Exhibition on April 12-16, 2015, in Chicago, Ill.
