The aim of the partnership is to simplify physician searches for appropriate clinical trials.

Practice Fusion and ePatientFinder have announced a partnership that they feel will enable physicians using Practice Fusion’s EHR to learn about the newest clinical trials as well as which of their patients may be eligible to participate. This partnership will result in one of the largest EHR-driven clinical trial network integrations in the nation and will help providers identify clinical trial opportunities for their patients.

Historically, physicians have been challenged by the search for appropriate clinic trial availability for their patients due to a lack of readily available information on clinical trials being conducted by investigators and sponsors. This partnership integrates the Practice Fusion platform and ePatientFinder, thus enabling practitioners to efficiently locate and match their eligible patients with clinical trial opportunities.

“Together we will be able create an unprecedented awareness of clinical trial opportunities for both physicians and patients,” said Tom Dorsett, CEO of ePatientFinder. “Until now, patients could only hope that they might hear or see an advertisement to make them aware of clinical trial options. Now they will learn through their trusted physician.”

Practice Fusion also recently announced the launch of another EHR initiative as Health IT Outcomes reported. That launch included a population health management program which offers healthcare providers insight and clinical decision information for patient populations with respiratory conditions via the Practice Fusion electronic health record (EHR) platform. The program is designed to help improve care for asthma and COPD patients by offering clinical decision supports at the point of care.
