Zipnosis Announces Claims Processing With Client MultiCare Health System And Integration Partner PokitDok At HIMSS17

From the first company to connect the online virtual care experience with in-clinic lab services via their ZipTicket technology over a year ago, Zipnosis is recently announcing new claims processing functionality with client partner MultiCare Health System (MultiCare) and integration partner PokitDok.

MultiCare developed a strategy to offer their powered-by-Zipnosis virtual care platform to employees and dependents as a covered benefit and wanted to make the claims process a seamless, behind-the-scenes event. “We determined that we needed to find a simple way to manage claims submissions for our virtual visits and Zipnosis provided the right solution,” said Christi McCarren, senior vice president of retail health and community based care for MultiCare.

Scott Brown, vice president of product and engineering at Zipnosis concurred, “MultiCare gave us an excellent opportunity to expand the functionality of the Zipnosis platform. We thrive on finding solutions to support our clients, and our partnership with PokitDok made this one possible.”

MultiCare employees are verified as eligible for the virtual care benefit when they log into or create an account on MultiCare eCare – MultiCare’s powered-by-Zipnosis virtual care service. They can receive diagnosis and treatment for more than 10 common conditions, including cold and flu, seasonal allergies, bladder infections and minor skin conditions. Claims information is compiled by the Zipnosis platform and routed via PokitDok to the payer.

“Patients don’t see what’s going on behind the scenes. The collaboration between MultiCare, Zipnosis and PokitDok delivered a seamless experience for our patients,” said McCarren.

Zipnosis has previously worked with PokitDok to verify eligibility for defined populations, and built on that foundation to facilitate development of the new claims functionality. “PokitDok designed claims administration tools to support emerging digital health companies like Zipnosis,” said Lisa Maki, co-founder and CEO, PokitDok. “This engagement really hit our sweet spot: working to strip costs and unproductive time out of clinical visits. We leveraged our HIPAA-compliant data connections to health insurers and payers to facilitate this new workflow. The result is quality care delivery with improved efficiency.”

MultiCare has been live with the new claims integration for a little more than a month and has seen utilization rates more than double in that time. Digitizing the formerly manual claims process is also saving time for MultiCare’s staff and helping to ensure claims are processed in a timely manner.

“As virtual care becomes increasingly mainstream, the need for claims integration is only going to grow,” said Jon Pearce, CEO at Zipnosis. “We anticipate this new functionality is going to provide a great deal of value to current and future Zipnosis clients.”

In addition to this expansion of their platform, Zipnosis proudly announces the addition of two new clients in their home state of Minnesota: Ridgeview Medical Center and Olmsted Medical Center.
