Rational Surgical Solutions Exhibits At HIMSS16 In The Hx360 Innovation Pavilion

Visit Kiosk #63 to learn more about the company’s mHealth solutions for informed consent and managing CRPC

Rational Surgical Solutions (RSS) will exhibit at Kiosk #63 in the Hx360 Innovation Pavilion at HIMSS16 (Feb. 29-March 4, Las Vegas). The company helps physicians, surgeons, and advanced practitioners leverage technology to improve patient care by offering transformative and proprietary process technologies that facilitate a secure, mobile workspace. At HIMSS16, RSS will display two products, the Rati-Fi Informed Consent System and the mCRPC Master mobile app.

The Rati-Fi System: Making Consent Better Informed
“In today’s medical environment, patient education and communication is critical to obtaining informed consent,” said Dr. Jonathan Fialkov, Founder and CEO. “Multiple studies have shown that many people remember only 20-30% of what they are told shortly after informed consent is administered. This can result in confusion, poor patient satisfaction, and in some cases, opens the door to malpractice suits.” Dr. Fialkov explained that $6.4B is spent annually by malpractice insurance companies to defend malpractice claims against physicians and that a 2012 study by CRICO identified that communications factors were identified in 42% of the cases they reviewed.

“To better educate patients, streamline the procedure, and greatly reduce the chance of malpractice claims, RSS developed the Rati-Fi Informed Consent System,” said Fialkov. The Rati-Fi System is an mHealth-ready, patent-pending system that improves patient education and comprehension for both pre-treatment and post-care using high-quality medical animations to explain treatment options, a brief quiz to test for comprehension and a video-based informed consent process that records the conversation with the doctor and stores the video and a PDF of the signed file securely in the cloud. A patient satisfaction survey is also included in the process. The iPad-based program is intuitive and easy to use.

The Rati-Fi system was launched in November of 2015. Physicians and patients involved with beta testing of the product at the Iowa Clinic have reported significant improvements in patient satisfaction and comprehension. For more information, visit www.rati-fi.com.

The mCRPC Master: Clinical Treatment Guidelines for Advanced Prostate Cancer
To support healthcare providers in their ability to navigate and utilize current treatment guidelines for specific disease states, Rational Surgical Solutions developed the Clinical Guidelines Master product line. Once healthcare providers enter patient clinical data into the app, the Clinical Guidelines Master determines and displays appropriate treatment options and recommendations.

The first developed application in the series, the mCRPC Master, focuses on the clinical treatment guidelines for metastatic castrate-resistant prostate cancer. According to the American Cancer Society, about 1 man in 7 will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime and 1 in 38 men will die from it. However, prostate cancer can often be treated successfully.

“The number of therapeutic options for men with mCRPC has increased exponentially and are updated frequently,” said Dr. Fialkov. “Keeping abreast of the different recommendations and the optimal sequence to administer therapies can be confusing for healthcare providers. The mCRPC Master sorts through protocols and keeps physicians current.” For more information, visit www.rati-fi.com/mcrpcmaster.
