Net Medical Xpress Solutions Notes Congressional Proposal To Broaden Telemedicine Reimbursement

Albuquerque, NM /PRNewswire/ - Net Medical Xpress Solutions, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board NMXC), said today that a Congressional proposal to increase telemedicine reimbursement could have a positive impact on the company's operations even as it contributes to lowering the country's healthcare costs.

The Telehealth Promotion Act of 2012 (H.R. 6719) sponsored by Congressman Mike Thompson would establish a federal reimbursement policy to ensure that no medical benefits are excluded as a result of being furnished by a telecommunications system. If passed, the bill is expected to increase access to telemedicine within Medicare, Medicaid, the Children's Health Insurance Program, TRICARE, federal employee health plans and the Department of Veterans Affairs.

CEO and President, Dick Govatski , said, "This proposed legislation underscores the growing acceptability of telemedicine as a key component of our health care system. The use of our telemedicine programs is already helping to lower health care costs here in New Mexico and this can easily be expanded nationwide. Among other advantages are incentivizing hospitals to lower readmissions by offering them a share of the total cost savings. Other benefits are allowing the medical community to use telemedicine as an equivalent substitute for in-person care and the use of remote monitoring to also help lower costs. We agree with those who say that passage of this legislation will almost instantly make our Federally-funded health care system more effective and more efficient."
