AUSTIN, Texas – Honeywell (NYSE: HON) HomMed, a global leader in telehealth and remote patient care, today announced its Genesis Touch has been selected as a finalist in the 15th Annual Medical Design Excellence Awards (MDEA) competition.

Evaluated by the panel of third-party MDEA jurors, the Genesis Touch is Honeywell’s wireless remote patient monitoring device, allowing patients to take their biometric information and communicate it with healthcare providers.  Its intuitive user interface also offers features such as an integrated video application, ability to schedule biometrics collection and Spanish language support.

“We are honored the Genesis Touch has been recognized as a finalist in this year’s Medical Design Excellence Awards,” said John Bojanowski, President of Honeywell HomMed. “The Genesis Touch combines traditional telehealth benefits with the newest technological services, offering healthcare providers, patients and their families the best – and most flexible – remote patient monitoring possible.”

The Medical Design Excellence Awards (www.MDEAwards.com) is the industry’s premier design awards competition and the only awards program to exclusively recognize contributions and advances in the design of medical products.

MDEA entries were evaluated by an impartial, multidisciplinary panel of third-party jurors, and judged on the basis of their design and engineering features, including innovative use of materials, user-related functions improving healthcare delivery and changing traditional medical attitudes or practices, features providing enhanced benefits to the patient, and the ability of the product development team to overcome design and engineering challenges so the product meets its clinical objectives.
