Wolters Kluwer Health Updates Point-Of-Care Software With Procedures Reviewed By Academy Of Medical-Surgical Nurses

96 AMSN-Endorsed Medical-Surgical Procedures to Go Online in Lippincott Procedures in October and Nearly 400 to be Available by Mid-2015

Wolters Kluwer Health, a leading global provider of information and point-of-care solutions for the healthcare industry, recently announced it has updated theLippincott Procedures online software with a set of medical-surgical nursing procedures that underwent extensive review by the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses (AMSN), the largest nursing organization dedicated to the medical-surgical specialty. One-quarter of the 395 AMSN-endorsed procedures are included in the October Lippincott Procedures update with the remainder to be released quarterly through July 2015.  Regularly updated with the latest evidence, Lippincott Procedures is one of the leading online clinical decision-support solutions used by nurses and other clinicians at the bedside.

All 395 medical-surgical procedures are being reviewed, developed and/or modified by a select team of experts from the AMSN membership of more than 11,000 nurses.  The first set of approximately 96 new and updated procedures, including “Safe Medication Administration Practices” and “Indwelling Urinary Catheter (Foley) Care and Management,” is available to subscription customers in the product’s October quarterly software update.  All of the AMSN-reviewed procedures are endorsed to meet current, evidence-based standards of exemplary quality-of-care as defined by AMSN.

Skills checklists and competency tests for each procedure are provided to help facilities verify staff competence. Each procedure undergoes a thorough annual review process to ensure it includes the most up-to-date clinical information.

Lippincott Procedures, part of the Lippincott Solutions product suite, is available as a group subscription to hospitals and other healthcare facilities.
