Victory Technology Center To Provide Colocation Data Center Services For SUNY-ITEC

Multi-year RFP process concludes with selection of local Tier III data center

Victory Technology Center, Catholic Health’s state-of-the-art Tier III data center, was selected by the State University of New York Information Technology Exchange Center (SUNY ITEC) to provide colocation data center products, space, and services. The selection follows an extensive RFP process that began in 2011.

“We are excited to partner with SUNY ITEC and provide them with the high-availability, diversity, and security necessary for their unique operations and demanding IT environment,” said Michael DiGiore, Director of Victory Technology Center. “The Victory Technology Center is a natural fit for organizations like SUNY ITEC.”

ITEC is one of several special purpose organizations within the State University of New York system established by participating institutions to support multi-campus, computer-related, group activities targeted at improving the quality, quantity and cost- effectiveness of campus-based and University-wide computer services. Currently housed on the campus of Buffalo State College, SUNY ITEC provides various IT services and support that are available to the 64 institutions within the SUNY system as well as SUNY Administration.

“We’re a dynamic and growing part of the SUNY system and the Victory Technology Center affords us with exactly what we need: –high-efficiencies, superior redundancies, the ability to flex and scale our footprint as needed, and premium security measures. This type of data center is atypical in Higher Ed, and with this partnership, ITEC is now able to present this option to institutions state-wide.  It is the hope that by combining ITEC, the VTC, and available resources on our campuses, we will continue to provide quality services to our students, faculty and staff to meet expectations and demand.” said Michael B. Notarius, Chief Information Officer for SUNY ITEC.

Built to meet the demands of Catholic Health’s need for reliability and security for its advanced clinical and business information systems, the Victory Technology Center’s, additional capacity is marketed to outside organizations with comparable production data center or disaster recovery needs. “Higher education, like health care, has dynamic and ever-changing computing needs,” DiGiore added.

Owned and operated by the Catholic Health System, the Victory Technology Center is an AICPA Service Organization and is a Tier III rated collocation facility with Tier IV critical infrastructure. The facility qualifies as a HIPAA-Compliant data vault. The Victory Technology Center meets the highest standards of infrastructure redundancy required for uninterrupted operations. This multiple power grid facility has priority power and telecommunications restoration status in the event of an area disaster.
