Perceptive Software Achieves DIACAP Certification For Vendor Neutral Archive Solution To Support U.S. Department Of Defense Integrated Clinical Systems Program

Validation of Perceptive Acuo Vendor Neutral Archive enables live management and sharing of medical images between military healthcare facilities worldwide

News Facts

  • Lexmark’s Perceptive Software announces that it has achieved certification for compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) security requirements, as tested and verified by the DoD Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP). The Perceptive Acuo Vendor Neutral Archive, identified within the DoD as the Enterprise Clinical Imaging Archive, has achieved the Authority to Operate designation from the U.S. Army Medical Materiel Agency.
  • DIACAP certification requires a thorough and rigorous evaluation of software applications that operate on a DoD network to verify that they are highly secure and reliable. As part of the certification process, Perceptive Software worked with DoD officials to configure, test and confirm that the Perceptive Acuo Vendor Neutral Archive complies with DoD security requirements and was accredited by an authorized official. The certification for the Perceptive Acuo Vendor Neutral Archive solution enables the DoD to leverage the clinical content interoperability and data liquidity that only an independent vendor neutral archive (VNA) platform can provide for healthcare organizations in managing DICOM and non-DICOM content.
  • The DoD signed a contract in 2012 to implement Perceptive Acuo Vendor Neutral Archive to manage clinical content for U.S. Army and Navy hospitals around the world. An enterprise VNA solution is a key component in creating a fully-federated system across all military services where each local archive has awareness of all images in each of the other imaging archives. The goal is to provide immediate access to Warfighter medical imaging information, regardless of deployment location.
  • The Perceptive Acuo Vendor Neutral Archive will consolidate patient imaging studies from Army and Navy picture archiving and communication system (PACS) sites. Each regional system will replicate to a set of centralized archives that will also be the connection points to the DoD electronic health record for diagnostic radiology and dental images. The Army and Navy, who traditionally have procured their own separate PACS, will be sharing data centers to allow for image sharing, business continuance and disaster recovery for both branches of the military.
  • Perceptive Acuo Vendor Neutral Archive is an application, storage and viewer-neutral clinical content management platform that drives better care delivery through a patient-centric approach to enterprise interoperability. It improves clinical workflow and archiving capabilities for healthcare organizations, enabling all clinical content (DICOM and non-DICOM) to be easily shared across the enterprise and providing greater freedom and flexibility in implementing departmental systems that best meet patient care, clinical quality and business process needs. Perceptive Acuo Vendor Neutral Archive also strengthens business continuance and disaster recovery capabilities with VNA software running in primary and secondary data centers.
