Orion Health, the leader in health information exchange (HIE) and healthcare integration solutions, recently announced Orion Health Rhapsody Integration Engine version 5. Rhapsody provides comprehensive support for a vast range of communication protocols and message formats, ensuring connectivity between all systems. New features in Rhapsody 5 include an all-new monitoring system with an activity stream that presents messages and comments in real time so users can better monitor system status, and an IHE Toolkit for simplifying the use of IHE Integration Profiles. Rhapsody 5 will be generally available for download on April 1, 2012.

"Rhapsody, the integration engine of choice for leading hospitals, HIEs, medical software and device manufacturers, and public health organizations around the globe, now delivers new features that make it even easier than ever to integrate healthcare systems," said Paul Viskovich, President, Orion Health North America. "Rhapsody version 5 optimizes system uptime, allows interface issues to be identified and addressed before they become critical, and helps healthcare organizations easily support evolving industry standards."

"The alerting and notifications scheme is much more robust in Rhapsody version 5, and we're looking forward to utilizing it," said Ted Walker, integration engineering manager at Virtual Radiologic in Minneapolis, MN, and a Rhapsody version 5 beta program participant.

New features and Options in Rhapsody version 5 include:

Web Management Console 5 offers a more dynamic interface and highly flexible and intelligent monitoring capabilities, giving administrators complete awareness and control of their systems, and reducing application downtime. Features include:

  • Real-time activity streams, letting users see instantly what is currently occurring with each component, along with an information-rich view of historical activity
  • Personalized notification options enabling anywhere, anytime access to network information
  • Scheduling tools to ensure important updates never slip through the cracks

Rhapsody IHE Toolkit addresses the challenge of creating IHE-compliant integration within and between enterprises, resulting in fast and cost-effective interoperability between products or an entire network. For organizations looking to connect to HIEs or regional networks, the IHE Toolkit provides the flexibility to meet all IHE implementation requirements today and in the future. IHE Toolkit is a value-added Rhapsody Option that provides:

  • IHE-specific communication points and filters
  • Enhanced web services communication points
  • Pre-loaded sample configurations
  • Thorough documentation on how to implement specific IHE integration profiles

Enhanced and simplified connected-network management tools:

  • Streamlined message searching for faster troubleshooting
  • Fully internationalized translatable monitoring interface and event logs
  • LDAP authentication for unified user login

Orion Health will showcase Rhapsody Integration Engine version 5, along with new and enhanced features for Orion Health HIE (also announced today), at the 2012 Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Conference (booth 4255).
