MyDirectives Teams With Cerner And Coordinated Care Oklahoma

Real-time Digital Emergency, Critical and Advance Care Planning to be Embedded in Cerner Interoperability Offerings

Dallas, Texas-based ADVault, Inc., announced recently at the annual Health Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) conference that Cerner, a global leader in health care technology, and its health information exchange client Coordinated Care Oklahoma (CCO) will be using ADVault’s MyDirectives.com and MyDirectives MOBILE services to help consumers create, manage and share their emergency, critical and advance care plans. CCO facilitates access to more than 4.2 million people’s health records contributed by seven health systems, in excess of 45 hospitals and more than 3,000 providers in five states. The award-winning Cerner HIE platform is the technology backbone of the CCO HIE. HIMSS15 is the premier gathering of over 35,000 healthcare professionals with a focus on innovation and technology.

An emergency, critical and advance care plan is a comprehensive document that can include elements of a living will, healthcare power of attorney and a person’s thoughts, goals and preferences related to his or her healthcare and specific medical treatments. A thorough plan, when accessible, can help people and their medical teams share important information about the individual’s healthcare.

Jeff Zucker, ADVault CEO, said, “The MyDirectives system allows people to create, update, personalize and share their care plan with anyone at any time. The MyDirectives care plan not only includes a fully legal advance medical directive, but also, consumers can enhance their plan by adding video and audio messages and by attaching other documents such as actual orders for life sustaining treatments. We are honored to have Cerner and CCO as collaborators who put a high priority on getting the individual’s voice heard during a healthcare crisis.”

“The more I know about the patients I treat, the better doctor I am,” said Dr. Brian Yeaman, Chief Administrative Officer of CCO, who also serves as Chief Medical Information Officer at Norman (Oklahoma) Regional Health System. “I see lots of exciting new technologies in healthcare every day, but nothing comes close to empowering consumers and improving the quality of emergency and critical care as the MyDirectives platform does.”

“Cerner is committed to interoperability because we believe patients should be able to give their care providers access to their health information,” said Bob Robke, Cerner Vice President for Interoperability. “Adding the ability for our clients, like Coordinated Care Oklahoma, to help prepare for their emergency, critical advance care plans to be made available to their caregivers, regardless of the information system that provider uses, is another step toward putting the patient at the center of care.”

Scott Brown, ADVault President, appeared at HIMSS15 with Cerner and CCO leaders to make the announcement. “It’s a great opportunity to celebrate our collaboration with Cerner and CCO here at HIMSS, where innovation and healthcare come together to help people live healthier and happier lives. We’re learning how creative people can be using our platform to gain peace of mind and confidence that they’ve expressed their goals and preferences for their healthcare, and knowing that their wishes can be shared securely with their families, caregivers and medical team if there is ever an emergency health crisis and they can’t communicate. The news today with Cerner and CCO, along with our other recent partnership announcements, proves that interoperability, access, and making the voice of the consumer the starting point for treatment decisions – and not just an afterthought – are not future policy goals. They are something we and our partners do today and every day.”

Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
