Iatric Systems Adds The Federal Government's Blue Button Technology To Its Patient Portal

Iatric Systems, Inc., a leading provider of healthcare software and interface services, recently announced the addition of the federal government's Blue Button capability to its patient portal solution PtAccess.

Blue Button allows patients to access and download their health information into a very simple text file (or an enhanced PDF) that can be read, printed or saved on any computer. The download can include all of the patient's data or can be broken out by data class or date range. The Department of Veterans Affairs developed Blue Button in collaboration with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and the Department of Defense, along with the Markle Foundation's Consumer Engagement Workgroup.

Iatric Systems PtAccess is used by hospitals and other healthcare organizations to provide patients with secure access to their electronic health information via the Internet. With the addition of Blue Button technology to PtAccess, patients now have an additional web-based feature through which they may easily download their health information and share it with health care providers, caregivers and others they trust.

Joel Berman, president and CEO of Iatric Systems, tells how this enhancement supports his company's mission. "At Iatric Systems, we have long recognized that technology can play a powerful role in improving healthcare. For 21 years, Iatric Systems has provided solutions that hospitals use to share appropriate patient medical data with healthcare providers. Adding Blue Button capabilities to our patient portal furthers our mission of using technology to enhance the delivery of healthcare and patient health."
