Remote MasterMind 4.0 expands pool of manageable devices, including employee smartphones under BYOD policies

Honeywell recently announced the introduction of the Remote MasterMind 4.0 (ReM 4.0), an extensive upgrade to the automatic identification and data capture (AIDC) industry’s first integrated mobile and scanning device management solution which includes data collection and alert and remote diagnostics. Building on the legacy of Honeywell’s reliable, industry-leading remote device management technology, Remote MasterMind 4.0 tightens integration among all Honeywell branded mobile devices, including the rugged Android enterprise-ready devices and barcode scanners, as well as consumer mobile device brands used in enterprise bring-your-own-device (BYOD) programs.

The updated ReM 4.0 offers increased operational efficiencies by allowing a single person or group of administrators to manage an entire set or subset of devices from across the enterprise, track device locations and routes traveled and make quick decisions regarding user-reported issues without needing to be present in the field. Users and administrators can access device metrics and statistics to quickly diagnose reported issues, proactively identify operation errors from within the device pools, aggregate operation data and improve IT support to devices.

“As data security continues to be a major concern for our customers across various industries, Remote MasterMind 4.0 offers comprehensive device management capabilities regardless of policy or device,” said Peter Fehl, vice president of marketing, Honeywell Scanning & Mobility. “Remote Mastermind 4.0’s single pane-of-glass solution is central to our strategy to ensure our customers maximized investments in AIDC technology with its unique ability to remotely manage most enterprise mobile devices, Honeywell scanners and consumer-grade products.”

To accommodate the growing demand for enterprise BYOD programs, Remote MasterMind 4.0 offers specific enhancements to improve support for employee-owned smart devices.  With ReM 4.0, IT managers are able to manage both enterprise-issued devices and personal employee smartphones through one interface. By providing protection to employee’s consumer-grade smart devices, this solution enforces device security by strengthening password protection to ensure intruders are unable to gain server access. Additionally, should a smart device get lost, ReM 4.0 allows IT managers to remotely wipe the device to further ensure security.

With a comprehensive and consistent look and feel, ReM 4.0 is a remote device management solution that provides simplified system training and adoption, while maintaining on-going activities for bar code and mobile devices.

Remote MasterMind 4.0 will begin shipping in June 2013. For more information on Remote MasterMind 4.0, please visit http://www.honeywellaidc.com.
