Cloud-Based EMR In Emergency Department

Mineral Area Regional Medical Center upgrades its information systems to better support caregivers in providing the highest quality of care.

Cloud-based technologies allow businesses to do more with less, especially now when being agile and effective is more critical than ever. One medical center is touting the success of its recent cloud-based EMR implementation and the benefits the facility, its staff, and its patients are already seeing.

Mineral Area Regional Medical Center, located in Farmington, MO, recently announced it has successfully implemented a cloud-based EMR, Emergency Department Information System (EDIS), through its partnership with veEDIS Clinical Systems, LLC (veEDIS). The center is currently using the system to provide medical content aimed at improving documentation, mitigating risk, and overall patient outcomes in the emergency department.

As the nurses and physicians who utilize veEDIS EMR are already seeing, it is a significant step toward modernizing technology and patient record-keeping at the busy facility. Additionally, the veEDIS EMR software is compliant and certified by an ONC-ACB in accordance with the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the applicable certification criteria adopted by it. The program will assist the hospital towards its own Meaningful Use requirements.

The veEDIS Care Trak tool delivers emergency department medical research right to the treating physician and alerts them to inconsistencies or potential high risk factors. veEDIS provided a compliment of physicians, nurses, and technicians for the hospital to training and go-live, a less than 30 day process.

As a 135-bed full-service hospital, Mineral Area Regional Medical Center provides a comprehensive range of medical services and high quality care. Its Health Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP) by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) demonstrates Mineral’s commitment to meet the highest national standards for quality and safety.

Mineral Area Regional Medical Center is part of the Capella Healthcare family of hospitals. Capella partners with communities to build strong local healthcare systems that are known for high quality patient care and excellent service. Based in Franklin, TN, Capella owns and/or operates hospitals in six states.
